Perros y gatos
Over the past years, Baylón has delighted, unsettled, and amazed us with his photographs — suburbs, beggars, streetwalkers, afternoons at the bullring…-, and now offers us a delightful exercise in balance between reportage and poetry, the immediate document and the distanced examination. A simple and essential metaphor about the two poles of the human condition, represented by the sentimental and straightforward nature of the dog and the sinuous, enigmatic temperament of the feline […] Displaying a style that combines both the dog’s tracking talent — “a walking dog will always find a bone,” as a Gypsy proverb says- and the cat’s electric sensitivity, Baylón draws an arc in which the two extremes of human personality are reconciled.
