Madrid en plata
Baylón. Madrid en plata brings together a selection of black-and-white photographs taken by Luis Baylón over the course of thirty years. The book focuses on the power of the photographic sequence and on the role of chance: it does not present isolated images, but consecutive series as they appear on the roll of film, allowing continuity and surprise to reveal their own rhythm. This way of presenting the material makes it possible to capture the photographer’s impulse at the moment of shooting and to show how chance intervenes in the construction of meaning. The publication gathers sequences made between 1984 and 2017 as a way of closing a creative chapter marked by the transformation of Madrid and by a way of photographing that, like the analogue negative, is also nearing its end.
